A monthly wellness walk-in that checks cholesterol and blood pressure has seen a record number of visitors.
People are invited for the monthly walk-in event organised by Blandford Group Practice.
More than 100 people attended January’s session.
On top of the checks, the walk-in gives people the chance to learn more about their local services and grab a hot drink.
The social prescribing team in Blandford has been collaborating with other local health and wellbeing services to bring this to the community.
The next event will be held at Blandford Corn Exchange on Tuesday, February 27 between 10am and 12pm.
Sara Stringer, social prescribing, health champions, veterans and wellbeing team manager, said: “For our January clinic we had an amazing turn out from services and the local community. We had 113 members of public attend, which is a record.
“We had 25 stall holders join us to share what is on offer and the support that people can receive.
“With services such as Dorset Waste with their smoothie making bike, Livewell Dorset, Aster Living, Alzheimer’s society, Reach, Paragon, Help and Care, along with our surgery Wellbeing Team, and so many more.
“A huge hit for these clinics is our cholesterol and blood pressure checks that we offer. These are offered to anyone that attends, and they don’t have to be a patient at Blandford Group Practice.”
After February’s event, from March to June 2024, the events will be held at The Sealy Suite in the Crown. From July onwards, the team will be doing pop ups in the local villages.
