A man has appeared in court charged with assault after an incident in Weymouth.
Jethro Cray-Morris, aged 44 and of Lennox Street, Weymouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates Court yesterday.
It follows an incident reported to police at on the morning of Sunday, February 11, from the ambulance service of a man requiring medical treatment at an address in Lennox Street.
It was reported that the victim – a local man aged in his 60s – had been assaulted and sustained a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for treatment and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and a cordon remains in place at the address where it occurred.
Due to the nature of the case, no plea was taken and he was remanded in custody. Cray-Morris will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court for a hearing on Thursday, March 14.
Police are appealing for anyone who heard or saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity between around 12am and 1.30am on Sunday, February 11 to come forward.
