A man from Weymouth has been charged after an alleged 'serious assault' took place on Sunday.
The man in his 40s, who is known to the victim, was arrested and has now been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 14 2024.
The victim, a man in his 60s, suffered a 'serious head injury' and was air lifted to hospital for treatment.
Dorset Police confirmed yesterday (February 13) that he remains in hospital in a 'serious but stable condition,' after the alleged assault which took place at a residence on Lennox Street on February 11.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 11.09am on Sunday, February 11 2024 from the ambulance service of a man requiring medical treatment at an address in Lennox Street.
"It was reported that the victim – a local man aged in his 60s – had been assaulted and sustained a serious head injury.
"He was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment and remains in a serious but stable condition.
"Following enquiries, a man aged in his 40s from Weymouth who is known to the victim was arrested and has now been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 14 2024.
"Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and a cordon remains in place at the address where it occurred.
"They are appealing for anyone who heard or saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity between around 12am and 1.30am on Sunday, February 11 2024 to come forward."
