An obstruction on the tracks was causing delays to train services.
South Western Railway (SWR) services running from Weymouth to Waterloo were running at a reduced speed between Pokesdown and Bournemouth whilst specialist teams checked for potential damage.
The service were previously notified to an obstruction on the tracks in this location.
Disruption was expected until 4pm and train services running through these stations could have been cancelled, delayed or revised.
A spokesperson for SWR said: “For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”
