Emergency repair work alongside a busy dual carriageway is expected to finish tomorrow.
Drivers were left 'furious' on their commute this morning because of delays on the A35/A350 to Poole from Lytchett Minster.
Cones were placed on the left lane past Upton Gateway Roundabout, however drivers reported they “didn’t see any workers along the road”.
Drivers were stuck in delays of more than half an hour.
Wessex Water is carrying out work to repair a broken water mains.
A spokesman for the company said work is scheduled to finish tomorrow but “we hope to finish sooner”.
He added: “This is unplanned work to fix a mains leak that is affecting the nearside lane eastbound, a section of which has been closed for the safety of road users and our workforce.
“We’re sorry for the traffic delays.”
