A Weymouth man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

Sullivan Wilson, aged 29 and of Ranelagh Road, Weymouth, appeared before Poole Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon where he was formally charged.

He was charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.

He did not enter a plea.

He was remanded in custody until a hearing on Thursday, March 7.

Sophie Hobbs, aged 20, and of no fixed abode also appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court charged with two counts of attempted robbery.

Hobbs also did not enter a plea.

She was also remanded in custody until a hearing on Thursday, March 7.

As previously reported, The pair were arrested yesterday following an investigation by detectives into an alleged serious assault in Weymouth.

It is reported that at 12.49am on Saturday, January 27, a man had been found with injuries at an address in the town centre following an altercation that is believed to have occurred in Caroline Place.

Officers attended and a man aged in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment to suspected stab wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.

A full investigation into the incident was carried out by detectives from Dorset County CID and cordons were put in place as enquiries were carried out.

A 26-year-old man from Weymouth was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
