- THE FIRST Friday adult hour at Budmouth school arranged by Active Westham and funded through Westham COPS community group was a talk from Gary Fookes on the Olympic Legacy.
Unfortunately only three people attended. Gary gave a really informative and interesting talk about plans leading up to the 2012 Olympics.
If anyone is doubtful about the benefits and effects on our town resulting from the 2012 Olympics, if ever the opportunity comes up to hear Gary talk I feel it is worth giving up some time to listen.
The quiz planned for August 1, should be a good one and the beetle drive on August 8 will be good fun.
If you have never been to a beetle drive now is the time to see what is involved, it is much easier than whist and better than bingo.
Any adult from the area of Westham or indeed Chickerell and Lanehouse is welcome to attend any of the planned sessions between 8pm to 9pm at Budmouth School on Fridays during the school holidays.
The last Friday night session on August 29 will be a Barn Dance between 8pm to 10pm and it will be great if lots of people come along and give their support to the very good band UP & Running.
- THERE is a new majorette troupe called The Silverstreams who are based at Beechcroft St Paul's School.
They are holding a table top sale on Saturday, August 9 at St Paul's Church between 11am to 1.30pm.
There will be many stalls including Butterfly Bouquets, face painting, homemade gifts, teddy tombola and lots more.
Teas coffees and cakes will also be served.
- DORSET Close Friday club members and their friends have recently enjoyed a coach trip to Swanage, the weather was nice and sunny but a bit windy.
The next coach trip will be to Paignton on Saturday, August 16.
- THE GOOD Companions Club will be holding a Summer Fete at the Dorset Close Centre on Saturday, August 9 and there will be tables available for table top sales, please contact Shirley Winter at the centre for the cost. Unfortunately I do not know the time of the fete and cannot get the details as my contact is on holiday. If anyone is interested in the Fete please contact the Dorset Close Centre for the start time.
