A Dorchester arts charity has announced its list of upcoming music events to take place this March.

Established musicians will perform a range of genres including classical, blues, folk and jazz in Dorchester venues, organised by Dorchester Arts. 

BBC Proms regular vocalist Matt Ford will kickstart the spring season on March 1 as he presents an evening of songs by Cole Porter – a celebrated Broadway and Hollywood composer and lyricist. Mr Ford along with acclaimed pianist Matt Regan will be performing a selection of the composer’s works including ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’, ‘Night & Day’, ‘Too Darn Hot’ and ‘Anything Goes’. The performance will take place at the Corn Exchange at 7.30pm.  

Guitarist John Etheridge will be visiting the Corn Exchange for a night of blues, folk, jazz, and African grooves on Friday March 8.  He will be joined by singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Kit Holmes.

Dorset Echo:

Singer Aled Jones, who rose to fame in 1985 with his recording of "Walking in the Air" from the animated film The Snowman, will also perform at the Thomas Hardye School Theatre on March 24. Tickets are £30 for standard seats, £50 for best seats and a goody bag and a £70 package includes a pre-show meet and greet, a front row seat and a goody bag.

March’s programme also includes two tribute performances. Vernon James will sing songs from six-time Grammy award winner James Taylor, on Saturday, March 23 and there will also be a Coldplay tribute on Thursday, March 28. There will also be free performance by Dorchester Piano Quartet at the Corn Exchange on Thursday, March 21.
