Submissions are open for a Dorset film festival which showcases the work of emerging talent in the industry.

The Dorset indie Film Festival began in 2018 and is managed and hosted by students at Weymouth College.

It showcases indie films from filmmakers, directors, and producers nationwide as well as featuring work from Dorset based creators.

This year’s submission categories are welcoming more applications from Dorset-based film makers with fiction and non-fiction pieces.

Billy Prout, Project Manager for Dorset Indie Film Festival, said: “This year we broaden the genres for submissions, these being Fiction, Non-fiction and Local.

"We are really pushing the idea of local film makers submitting their creations, to give an emphasis on Dorset being a suitable area and aesthetic for filmmakers and content creators in general. Also, this year we are handing out multiple awards, to congratulate these different filmmakers in producing high quality films.”

The chosen venue is yet to be announced, as well as dates and ticket information.

The deadline for general submissions is March 14 with regular entry costing £8 and student entry costing £6 across all genres.

Regular updates will be posted on the festival's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/dorsetindiefilmfestival
