A family friendly music festival will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year.

DorsetFest is a not-for-profit festival run by volunteers, offering a weekend of camping, music and family entertainment.

It takes place on Warren Farm, Bulbarrow, and begins on Friday, June 21. It will run through Saturday, June 22 and there is camping available on site for both tents and campervans.

The festival has played host to both upcoming bands and established acts including Ben Waters, who worked with The Rolling Stones, and Neil Cowley who has been a sideman to Adele.

Friday’s lineup features: The Leggomen, The Stickhill Hoot, Vanilla radio and Theo Gibson. The performances continue Saturday with Piano Pete, Black Sheep, The Vet Band, Dr Beatroot, Nory J, King Cerulean, Rootstone, The Phogues, Chief Lazarus as well as a performance from Cheselbourne school.

There will also be a range of stalls and activities for all ages. These include Jamie Jigsaw, face painting, hula hoops, bouncy castle, 5-a-side football field, Tai Chi, yoga, and massages. Food and drink will also be available.

The festival originally began as a local fete in June 2014, and was originally called Dorset Midsummer Music Festival. Bigger venues were hired over the years to meet the high volume of attendees and in 2018 it was decided to simplify the name to DorsetFest,

In its 10 years, DorsetFest has raised over £130,000 which has gone partly towards the maintenance of three historic churches of Hilton, Cheselbourne and Melcombe Horsey and to charities, including Weldmar Hospicecare, Julia’s House and Joseph Weld Hospice.
