A free family workshop will take place during February half term at a Dorset garden centre.

Dobbies in Galton, Owermoigne, will run a holiday workshop on Thursday, February 15 aimed at children aged 4-10 years old celebrating national Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Children will get to explore the history of the celebration with the Dobbies' team explaining what it means to be kind and how they can be kind.

The workshop will be run by Dobbies’ Little Seedlings children’s club, teaching the children different ways they can be kind to nature. Activities will include making a bug hotel, feeding birds, planting pollinating flowers to help bumblebees thrive, picking up litter or making compost.

Children will also learn how to be kind to themselves by eating healthy food, sharing their feelings and being proud of their achievements. They can also create their own sunshine thank you card to put a smile on someone’s face.

Liz Savage, Little Seedlings Club Workshop Leader, said: “School holidays are a great chance to ignite a passion for a hobby or try something new. This workshop will allow kids to come together and learn, making friends along the way.

“Our Little Seedings Club is designed to engage and support local communities near our Galton store by providing accessible, free of charge fun and educational activities.”

The national Random Acts of Kindness Day will take place on Saturday, February 17 however the workshops will run throughout the February half term across different stores. The workshop at Dobbies’ Galton store will be on Thursday, February 15 at 11am.
