Dorset Council has released a new programme to encourage locals to get active outdoors.
As part of the Get Active Outdoors 2024 programme, the Health and Activity Team at Dorset Council will be organising a range of entry level activities in green and open spaces to help local people improve their health and wellbeing.
It includes volunteer led activities such as health walks and cycle rides.
The walks typically last between ten to ninety minutes for people of all abilities and regularly take place across Dorset.
The cycle rides are split into Level 1 and Level 2, with the former at a more leisurely pace with easy terrain and the latter involving mixed terrain, suitable for those who regularly cycle.
There will also be instructor-led sessions such as Nordic walking workouts and wellness walks, Tai Chi and Fresh Air Fitness. Taster classes are offered for Tai Chi and Nordic Walking before fees are required.
More information about the programme’s activities, including price breakdowns, can be found on the Dorset Council website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/health-and-activity
