A Portland supermarket was broken into during the early hours of the morning.
Police response officers from Weymouth were out on patrol at 1am, when they heard an alarm sounding from Lidl on Portland Beach Road.
Upon arrival to the store, officers found that a window had been smashed.
The team searched the surrounding area and located a male suspect nearby.
The man is now assisting police with enquires into the ‘burglary.’
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: “Officers from Weymouth response team were on patrol at 1am this morning on Portland Beach Road, when they responded to an alarm, they could hear sounding.
“The officers located the audible alarm at Lidl, Portland. Attending officers discovered the store insecure, with a broken front window.
“The team searched the surrounding area and located a suspect nearby. That male is now assisting us with enquires into this burglary.”
