Families will be able to immerse themselves with the sights, sound and stories of World War Two this February half term.
Nothe Fort in Weymouth is kicking off its spring season with an educational event all about the Second World War.
It will be filled with immersive activities from February 10 until February 18 that will provide fun for all the family.
Some of the activities will include:
- an assault course inspired by the rigorous training faced by soldiers
- the opportunity to identify friendly and enemy planes
- discover the secrets of the war's smallest secret agents and the role played in communications,
- see what it would have been like to ride on a dispatch rider's motorcycle
- learn about the vital roles played by ARP and Fire Wardens in safeguarding communities during air raids.
- climbing activities reflecting the resilience and determination required during wartime.
- get up close and personal with authentic military vehicles.
- and step into the shoes of an evacuee by sending heartfelt messages to loved ones in the World War Two school room.
Nothe Fort's famous Winnie & Warren Mouse Hunt will also be taking place, but with a World War Two theme this year.
The history of the fort spans over 160 years, from a Victorian coastal defence to a local authority nuclear bunker and is now a museum
The event is free with a general admission ticket and is covered by an annual pass with the fort open from 10.30am until 4pm everyday.
