- BRADFORD Peverell Parish Council were very pleased to hear about Jan Watson.
They were told at their recent meeting that Jan has agreed to be the Amenity Fields representative as well as being co-opted onto the Council.
Jan reported that a full inspection team has been recruited to supervise the play equipment as this is part of the conditions of insurance.
A meeting will soon take place between Cllr Jan Watson, Chair Pat Burns and ex-Cllr Helen Eisner who is stepping down from the job after many years.
The handover meeting will arrange the rota of inspections of the equipment.
The meeting was also informed that Cllr Neil Howard and Mr Ainslie have met and are trying to ensure that the monitoring team for the gullies in Church Lane is up and running and that the gullies are cleared regularly and properly.
A detailed report on this work is available.
The Environment Agency will start work on the deflector and weir replacement very soon and as a result the footpath to Stratton over the fields will be closed for about 6 weeks or so.
Heavy plant will access via Stratton and lighter equipment will go over the reinforced bridge at the Bradford Peverell end on the path.
Signage in the village has been a subject of debate for some time with the general feeling of 'the fewer the better'.
The decision has been made that there will be a sign in the middle of the village indicating the main road "A 37".
There will be a new sign "Church Lane - no through road" all as one.
At Muckleford crossroads a three armed finger post will be erected showing "Winterbourne Abbas" "A 37 Grimstone and Stratton" and also "Bradford Peverell" pointing north.
The post will have a finial with the name "Muckleford" as the hamlet is not named anywhere else.
At the start of Muckleford Lane ( leading to Bradford Peverell ) a sign will be erected showing "Give Way" one side and "Single Track" on the other side.
There will also be a "Weight Limit 7.5 tons" notice to comply with legislation.
Cllr Andrew Buck told the meeting that the coping stones on Muckleford river bridge had been replaced after being knocked off.
He then said that within 7 days a vehicle had knocked 6 coping stones back into the river!
The council is to enquire whether a 'priority in one direction' scheme could be implemented at this dangerous spot.
Various other matters were dealt with and some payments authorised.
The next meeting is on Thursday September 4th.
