A GROUP giving support to Dorset families has received £7,550 from generous villagers.
The Family Counselling Trust Dorset has been given the cash boost thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local social and fundraising team, Martinstown Circle Suppers.
Catherine Boyd, Chair of Family Counselling Trust Dorset, said: "The Family Counselling Trust Dorset is hugely grateful for the support of the Martinstown Circle Suppers Team, whose events in 2023 have raised a whopping £7,550 for our work with children and young people in Dorset who are facing challenging mental health issues. Well done to all involved.”
The collaboration between the Martinstown Circle Suppers Team and the Family Counselling Trust Dorset serves as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives in effecting positive change.
This substantial donation is poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and their families dealing with mental health challenges.
Rosalind Miller, CEO of the Family Counselling Trust, highlighted the impact of this donation, saying: "This financial support is much appreciated and instrumental in our efforts to provide vital services to those in need.
"The funds will directly aid up to 30 Dorset children and their families this year, ensuring they receive the essential help they need.”
Since 2016, the Martinstown Circle Supper Team has been fostering community spirit and supporting local charities through a series of supper evenings and social events, bringing neighbours together for a shared cause. Their efforts have raised over £30k to date.
Cathie Seigal, Chair of the Martinstown Circle Suppers, expressed her gratitude to Martinstown villagers.
She said: "It has been enormous fun raising the money for this important charity.
"We have been delighted with the support from our neighbours and friends in Winterbourne Valley.
"We will be continuing our fundraising efforts for our 2024 nominated charity, Dorchester Poverty Action. The calendar includes a Garden Fete, a year-long programme of suppers, and a Rock ’n’ Roll Party Night!”
Rosalind added: “Our service is funded by generous donations from donors, trusts and foundations.
