The line-up for a Dorchester drinks festival has been announced, inviting locals to celebrate the town’s brewing and distillery history.
Brew Dorch Festival will take place from Thursday, February 15 to Sunday, February 18, offering a variety of daytime and evening events from gin and wine tastings to beer themed folk nights.
The four-day festival is run by Dorchester Tourism Partnership and led by Dorchester Town Council. It is also sponsored by Brewery Square - a shopping and restaurant complex on the site of the Eldridge Pope Brewery.
On Thursday, attendees are invited to a gin tasting experience from 6pm at the Hub Box. Alternatively people can also attend a wine tasting dinner an hour later at the Kings Arms.
A lively evening can be expected on Friday with a DJ & Cocktails event at the Kings Arms from 6.30pm and a Beer and Band at Tom Brown’s from 9pm. Cocktail expert John Wright will also be hosting a cocktail class in the same venue earlier that day. All of these events are free to enter.
There are a mixture of free and paid for events across the weekend. Saturday’s line-up includes a Brewery Square history tour with Jeremy Pope, tankard pottery and knitting workshops, a Brew Walk with Joy Wallis, Beer Olympics, and a live band.
Sunday’s events include a Folk Pub Walk with Alastair Simpson, Mummers play at Brewery Square, a performance from WOB, Eldridge Pope Workers Reunion and a Beer themed Folk Night.
