A Dorchester-based band will be performing traditional Dorset music for families to dance along this Saturday.
The Ceilidh dance band Tatterdamilion will be performing traditional folk music from 19th century Dorset at The Big Dorset Midwinter Ceilidh at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Saturday, January 13.
The word 'ceilidh' comes from the Scots Gaelic for a gathering, and in contemporary usage, it often involves dancing and playing traditional folk music in a social hall.
Families and friends are invited to experience communal folk dance taught by experienced dance caller Angela Laycock.
There will be an afternoon ‘Kiddies’ Keilidh’ session at 5.30pm specifically for families with younger children and an evening session at 7.30pm open to everyone.
There will also be a bar open for people to quench their thirst in between the high-energy dances.
No experience or partner is necessary to attend.
