FOOTWEAR retailer Shoezone is set to reopen in Weymouth this weekend in a new location just a few doors down from its old premises.
In October it was announced Shoezone would move into the unit vacated by McDonald's on St Mary Street.
The new store will open its doors to the public for the first time on Saturday, January 13.
Two new staff members have also been recruited as part of the move.
McDonald's left the unit next to Saltrock in May, after recently opening a new restaurant at the Weymouth Gateway retail park.
From Monday to Saturday, the store will be open 9am to 5.30pm, and 10.30am to 4.30 pm on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Shoezone said: "A new space at 72-73 St Mary Street, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 8PJ, offers a bigger selection for customers and an exciting range of new brands.
"To celebrate the relaunch of the store, Shoezone has a number of special offers for customers, including savings on a selection of various styles and seasonal opening offers.
"It will stock its own brand styles and a huge range of exciting name brands popular with online shoppers, such as Relife, Heavenly Feet and Osaga."
Kelly O'Hare, Store Manager of the modernised store, said the two new roles created by the opening have been filled.
Anthony Smith, shoezone Chief Executive, said: “It is exciting to be opening our relocated store in Weymouth, which will see the launch of new brands for customers to enjoy.
"We look forward to welcoming our customers into our new store and hope they enjoy the new variety of products available.”
Speaking in October, Paul Appleby, President of Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce, said: "I think that's really good news.
"Shoe Zone is a large UK-wide retailer and they've obviously identified that Weymouth town centre is a great place to open a shop and will serve locals and tourists alike.
"With a high footfall premises next door (Shoe Zone) I would think the unit next door would be taken quickly."
