Emergency services dealt with a 'significant fuel leak' in Poundbury that saw a road closed.
Bridport Road was blocked in both directions due to a fuel spillage from a lorry at Monkey's Jump Roundabout to McDonalds.
Around 50 litres of fuel was on the road which a fire crew 'stemmed the flow' of before leaving the scene in the hands of the police and local authority.
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were requested by police to attend a vehicle fuel leak near the McDonalds restaurant, Bridport Road at 7.48am today.
"One fire engine from Dorchester was sent and on arrival, firefighters found a LGV lorry with a significant fuel leak.
"Approximately 50 litres of fuel was on the road and crews worked to stem the flow of the fuel leak.
"The Local Authority was requested to attend but not details regarding Ambulance attendance. The stop message came in at 8:44am and left the incident with the police and local authority."
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 7.41am of a fuel spill from a lorry on Bridport Road near the Monkey's Jump Roundabout near Dorchester.
"The fire service and highways authority have been notified and road closures have been put in place."
The road was cleared and reopened around 11.30am.
Dorset Council have been contacted for more information.
