A local charity, which provides donated items for babies and pre-schoolers, invites people to attend their re-opening this January.
Family Matters Weymouth and Portland support local families by collecting and organising donated items such as clothes for 0-3s, towels, playmats, highchairs, cots, buggies, toiletries, toys, and games.
The charity was established in 2020 and used to be based on Cambridge Road on the Granby Industrial Estate, Weymouth. While still on the Granby, it will be moving to Avon Close on South Park.
The official open date is Tuesday, January 16 at 10am.
Family Matters is a part of Refresh The Church of Weymouth and Portland In Action – an organisation that pushes for social action by supporting local charities helping those in poverty.
Cherry Clarke, coordinator of Refresh who runs the social media side of the charity, said: “All year round we’ve got people dropping in whenever we have equipment and clothes and homeware. They can drop in and pick up what they want.
“The whole ethos of Refresh and Family Matters is that we are open and welcome to whoever turns up. In our new space we will have an area where we can just site and give people a cup of tea or coffee and a listening ear if that’s what they want.
We will be giving people a chance to talk and share with each other because if you’re struggling it’s nice to know that people are out there to support you.”
The official open date is Tuesday, January 16 at 10am and everyone is invited to come along.
All items have been gifted to the charity by other local families.
