ELECTRICAL retailer Currys has announced they will close their store in Jubilee Retail Park in Weymouth.
The retail giant announced the store will close on Friday, March 1.
Staff at the Weymouth store have been made aware and have been offered to be redeployed to stores in Dorchester or Poole.
A Currys spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our Weymouth store will be closing on March 1, as the lease comes to an end.
"Colleagues impacted have been made aware of this decision and will be redeployed to local stores such as Dorchester or Poole, if they wish.
"We will also support them if they choose to move to another business.”
Our customers in Weymouth will still be able to find all the tech they need at our stores in either Dorchester or Poole, where our colleagues will be looking forward to helping them.”
Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce President, Paul Appleby, said: "Without knowing the cause of the closure it is hard to comment more directly.
"This is a bit out of the blue, it is very regrettable they will be closing down.
"My thoughts go out to staff who will have to be relocated.
"I do hope the excellent retail space is filled quickly by another big name like Currys.
"It is a fantastic location in the busy, fun town that is Weymouth."
Weymouth Town Councillor for Melcombe Regis, Jon Orrell, said he had a personal "soft spot" for the electrical store.
He said: "It is a very big loss for the town centre.
"It was incredibly handy having a shop so close, I used to get all of my family's laptops there for university.
"I will miss not being able to use it and the excellent service they gave in there.
"I hope a similar-sized business will relocate there.
"They were incredibly good at getting things fixed in there, I had a laptop fixed in there free of charge not too long ago so I have a soft spot for it.
"I have had very good service over the years at Currys, they will be missed."
