An early morning house fire originated from a cooker say firefighters.
Two fire crews from Weymouth and Dorchester rushed to a property fire in Elworth, Portesham at 7.57am today (Wednesday, December 27).
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze which originated in a Rayburn cooker.
Crews also used a thermal imaging camera to help them tackle the fire.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 7.57am this morning about a property fire in Elworth, Portesham.
“Two crews attended the incident which involved a cooker – two breathing apparatus wearers used hose reels to extinguish the fire.”
The stop message, meaning that the situation is under control and no more resources are needed, was given at 8.47am.
