A new life-saving defibrillator has been installed in Wyke Regis thanks to a local scout group.
The Weymouth South Scout Group has raised money to enable a new defibrillator to be installed near to its scout base at Legh House residential home, Rylands Lane, Wyke Regis, DT4 9QB.
This is part of the group's celebration of its 80th anniversary.
The defibrillator is fitted on the wall of Legh House residential home and is accessible 24/7 by calling the emergency services on 999 who will direct you to the unit and give you the code in an emergency.
The defibrillator was made possible thanks to support from businesses, raffles and donations. It was installed for free by Xscapes Electrical.
A spokesperson for Weymouth South Scout Group said: "We are extremely excited to announce that, as part of our 80th birthday celebrations this year, we have completed our task to thank the brilliant community of Wyke Regis, Rodwell and Weymouth by fundraising and installing a defibrillator near our scout base in Rylands Lane, Wyke Regis.
"We hope and pray no one will need to use it though.
"Special thanks to Legh House and to Wyke Horticultural Society for supporting us and to all the brilliant businesses and locals who donated raffle prizes and financial donations to the fundraiser – too many of you to mention but please do know that we really appreciate all of your support and kindness.
"A massive and final thank you to Sam from Xscapes Electrical for giving his time for free to fit the defibrillator – thank you.
"Have a lovely Christmas all and a safe and happy 2024."
