Two Dorset charities have received a £1,000 financial boost thanks to a corporate donor’s Christmas campaign.
As part of the Benefact Group’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign, members of the public were invited to nominate the charities they think deserved to win a share of £120,000.
Among those set to benefit is Life Education Wessex (LEW), which provides PSHE resources to schools in the Wessex region.
Its aim is to effectively communicate healthy lifestyle messages and empower children aged 3-13 with the knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to make positive decisions and stay safe in schools.
Lorraine Hewitt, Fundraising Manager of LEW, said: “We are delighted to receive an award of £1,000 from the Benefact Group’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign. Their kind donation will make a REAL difference to our work, providing health, wellbeing, and drug prevention education to thousands of children in local primary schools.
“With increasing pressure on children today that can damage their health and their futures, our life education workshops are more important than ever, this support will help us to keep children safe, healthy, happy and achieving their best.”
Fellow Dorset recipient is Doodle Rescue, a foster based volunteer run rescue charity which rehomes poodle cross dogs. Over 8,100 votes for charities were cast Dorset residents, helping to spread festive cheer for charities this Christmas.
