Children across Dorset will be benefitting from yet another kind donation from a stone mining business on Portland.
Albion Stone has kindly donated £100 to our 24th annual Christmas Toy Appeal as it continues to show its support for children who are in need over Christmas.
The family run company has been involved with the Portland stone industry for nearly 100 years and has been extracting it for more than 40 years.
They have masterminded the switch from quarrying to mining on the island and continued the process of environmental improvement to make their stones some of the most environmentally sensitive building products in the world.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Christmas is a time for giving and Albion Stone are proud to support the Dorset Echo Toy Appeal this year which gives a gift to a child in need and helps to spread festive cheer.”
We asked readers to give a thought to children in need this Christmas and buy one extra present to go in a Dorset Echo Toy Appeal bin which were located at various local businesses.
All the toys collected will be distributed before Christmas to children who really appreciate them.
Businesses were also invited to make a £100 donation, and donations were also welcomed from readers for any amount.
The Toy Appeal bins have now been collected and we are no longer accepting donations.
