Pupils from a school choir in Weymouth were getting care home residents into the festive spirit.
Southill Primary School choir, known as Pop Stars, popped into Weymouth Manor Care Home to sing to its residents before Christmas.
The choir, made up of children in years 3, 4 and 5, sung a variety of yuletide songs.
At the care home on Radipole Lane, it was also resident Sheila’s birthday. Sheila was unable to attend the lounge where the children were singing so they went down and sang a Christmas song outside her room along with Happy Birthday.
Sheila, who was in her room with her husband, was so pleased she got to hear the children singing. She said: “It was so wonderful hearing their voices it made my day. The staff and the children have made my birthday very special thank you.”
Mr Bell, music teacher at the school, said: “The children were so excited on the walk over to the Weymouth Manor. It’s so lovely for them to be able to come into care home and sing for the residents."
Caroline Wood, Deputy Head Teacher, said: “All the children did an excellent job, it was so lovely to see everyone in the room smiling from the children to residents and staff.”
Dilys, a resident, said: “It was an absolute delight to hear their voices. Children bring extra magic to Christmas and we all certainly felt that way today.”
Sarah Spearing, Deputy Manager at Weymouth Manor, said: “What fantastic voices all the children had, everyone was singing along and having a good time. Thank you to Mrs Wood and Mr Bell and to all the children for visiting the home and bring everyone so much Christmas Joy.”
