Police are appealing for witnesses after a man allegedly assaulted and threatened a woman with a young child in Weymouth.

The incident is reported to have taken place around Friday, December 8 at around 10.10am when the woman, aged in her 20s, was walking on the Esplanade close to the Bluebird Coaches booking office with a young child.

They were then approached by the man who was known to her who reportedly assaulted and threatened her.

It is reported that the woman did not sustain serious injuries.

Police Constable Mark Eastgate, of Dorset Police, said: “We are investigating this matter and I am keen to speak to any witnesses to the incident.

“I am particularly keen to hear from a woman who was believed to be aged in her 50s who intervened during the assault.

“Finally, I would urge any motorists who were driving in the area around the relevant time to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
