A river in Dorset has burst its banks for the second time in a week following heavy rain to the county.

As previously reported, a yellow weather warning for torrential rain had struck Dorset on Monday, December 4.

Dorset Echo: The rain had caused parts of the River Frome to burst its banks and flood nearby fields around Dorchester, closing Slyer's Lane. Flooding had also seen the road between Bockhampton and West Stafford close.

Rain has continued to fall throughout the week and following another yellow warning for rain issued by the Met Office the River Frome burst its banks again.

New aerial photographs show the extent of damage to both the areas as commuters’ power through the water with their cars and floodplains filled with water.

Dorset Echo:

The area surrounding Muckleford near Dorchester has been submerged, whilst the B3075 South Causeway is closed due to flooding both ways between St John's Hill and Nutcrack Lane.

Dorset Echo:

One passer-by described the road as ‘underwater,’ saying that the area around Wareham and Wool is looking ‘much worse’ than other parts of the county following the flooding.

A resident close to Wool described the river as being ‘really high’ on Saturday.
