A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm following an assault that caused another man to lose consciousness.

It is reported that at around 1.25am on Sunday, December 3, a man was assaulted in Mitchell Street, Weymouth town centre.

Officers investigating the assault are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was hit by another man causing him to lose consciousness. He was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew.

A 34-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He has been released on police bail as officers continue their enquiries.

Detective Constable Neil Hooker, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am carrying out an investigation to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from anyone with information.

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police.

“I would also like to speak to any residents in the area who may have captured relevant footage of the incident on their doorbell cameras or home security systems.”
