DRIVERS have been issued with safety advice as temperatures plummet this week.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service is urging motorists to ensure they can see out of their vehicle's windscreen before setting off on their journey.

A spokesman says people should ensure that frozen windscreens are completely cleared.

They said: "If your car windscreen is frozen over, make sure you clear it completely before you set off on your journey - peering through a porthole will limit your vision and increase the risk of you being involved in an accident."

The spokesman added: "A few minutes of your time could save a life."
