Investigations are continuing after multiple cars were wrecked in a late-night crash in Weymouth.
Police have confirmed that the investigation into a crash that happened along Radipole Lane in Southill - which saw a car crash into parked vehicles - is continuing.
After the car ploughed into the first vehicle, it was spun around by the impact and hit another car on the other side of the road. The impact on the first car shunted it into a neighbour’s drive, causing damage to additional vehicles.
A total of around six cars were damaged as a result of the crash.
A witness described seeing the airbags inflated and smoke coming from the car.
The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday, October 14, on the stretch of Radipole Lane between Chafeys Avenue and Mayfield Close.
Residents described hearing ‘a really loud bang’ before venturing outside to see what all the commotion was about.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended and a man reported to be the driver of the car was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a driving offence.
"It was further reported that the man resisted arrest and assaulted an officer. The 29-year-old man from Weymouth was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence (using threatening or abusive words or behaviour)."
The spokesperson added: "There were no reports of any serious injuries, but the man was taken to hospital as a precaution.
"He was subsequently released under investigation as further enquiries are carried out."
