Nothing says Christmas more than that cinnamon smell in the air from a market.

In the past, one would have to travel to Europe for a flavour of the Christmas Market scene, yet more recently towns and cities across the UK have held their own markets. 

Here are just a handful of Christmas Markets around the area to give you some last minute ideas before that final shop. 

Bournemouth Christmas Market

Close to home, the Bournemouth Christmas Market offers a wide selection from tasty treats to delightful lights. 

Visitors can expect a wide range of options across 40 stalls, including handmade pizzas by Bournemouth restaurateurs El Murrino, craft gifts from local South Coast Makers Market, sweet treats by Bournemouth Brownie Company. 

The food fun does not end there as there are also festive treats including Yorkshire pudding wraps, crepes, and Bratwurst will also be available from the stalls.

The Alpine Lodge Bar in the Square opened its doors on Thursday, November 16 for the first time this festive season and promises a variety of drinks to keep warm during the cold evenings.

The Bournemouth Christmas Market will run from 11am daily until January 1.

Bath Christmas Market

The picturesque centre of Bath hosts a free event in the historic city seeing chalets nestled among iconic monuments as you sit back with some mulled wine.

Open between Thursday, November 23 to Sunday, December 10 visitors can expect an array of different festive delights, as well as artisan Gins from 6 O’Clock Gin and organic, hand-made artisanal cheese from Bath Soft Cheese.  

Winchester Christmas Market

Further afield, Winchester hosts a Christmas market at the Cathedral between Friday, November 17 to Thursday, December 21.

The market has been recognised as one of the best in Europe, and offers an authentic experience within the area of the Cathedral, with services, carols and concerts ringing through the streets, whether you’re finishing off your last minute shopping, or just treating yourself this will be sure to give you those Christmassy vibes you're craving.

New to the market this year, Wine That’s Fruit Ltd, who make wine from anything other than grapes, which one could pair with a selection of chillies from the Wiltshire Chilli Farm stall.

 

Exeter Christmas Market

Exeter’s Christmas Market has been labelled as Devon’s biggest Christmas Market.

More than 100 festive chalets will host global street food and themed bars featuring what organisers describe as 'real West Country produce.'

Hosted from Friday, November 17 to Sunday, December 17, visitors can also enjoy free entry to the Cathedral as well as the chance to see installation the Light of Hope Star, by artist Peter Walker.

Bristol Christmas Market

Bristol’s Christmas Market takes over the industrial centre of the city until Thursday, December 23 meaning it will be perfect for stocking fillers and gift ideas when you're doing your last minute shop.

More than 35 stalls have popped up and sell seasonal treats, with the Bavarian charm of festive spirits offered at the Jager Barn Bar, in Broadmead Piazza, where visitors can enjoy German Gluhwein, Cider and Bailey’s Hot Chocolate.

If you’re a foodie, German Bratwursts, Yorkshire Pudding Wraps, a Hog Roast and Churros will give visitors the opportunity to eat, drink and be merry.
