One of only two UK performances in 2024 by world-famous counter-tenor Andreas Scholl can be enjoyed in Dorchester.
Scholl will be accompanied on the piano by Tamar Halperin when he performs at St Mary's Church in Edward Road, Dorchester for Dorchester Arts on Monday, February 5.
Their previous visit to the county town in 2020 was, predictably, a sell-out and hearing Scholl’s voice in the extraordinary acoustic of St Mary’s Church made for an unforgettable evening of music.
This concert features the repertoire that has made Scholl one of the most admired singers of his generation, including Purcell’s Music for A While, Downland’s Flow My Tears, Handel arias from Saul, Alcina and Giulio Cesare, along with works by JS Bach.
As well as accompanying her husband, Tamar Halperin will play solo piano works by JS Bach alongside her own works inspired by the same composer.
Tickets will be on sale to members of Dorchester Arts from 10am today, Wednesday, November 15 until 10am on Friday, November 17 when they will then go on general release. Tickets cost £36 or £34 for members and concessions.
