WEYMOUTH College is asking permission to build a single storey extension on its Cranford Avenue site to create a new teaching space.
If approved the new room will be built in red brick with dark grey window frames to match the existing building.
Nine car parking spaces are expected to go to make way for the new 200metre square building at the northern end of the 214-space car park beyond the sports centre.
The college says the new workshop-style space will play a part in the delivery of modern methods if construction courses and will be partially paid for by the Local Skills Improvement Fund.
A similar extension, also for construction courses, was added by the college in 2021.
Public comments on the latest proposal can be made to Dorset Council by December 6.
