Schools in Dorset look set to close due to Storm Ciarán.
With heavy wind and rain expected for Thursday, some schools across Dorset have announced they will stay shut.
Atlantic Academy, Portland, has confirmed its closure due to the levels of wind forecast, as has Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester.
In Weymouth, a letter was sent to parents of Budmouth Academy from their principal Michael Hoffman to inform them that the school will be closed due to ‘the impending arrival of Storm Ciaran.’
The decision has thrown off the dates of the year 11 and 13 mock exams, which will take place next week.
The school said that the safety of students and stuff is a priority and during the closure they are encouraging students to engage in remote learning activities on Google Classroom where possible.
Greenford Primary School in Maiden Newton, the Forum Centre in Blandford and primary schools Loders and Marshwood in west Dorset will remain closed.
The Wyvern School in Weymouth will also be shut for the day.
All Saints School in Weymouth and the Compass Centre on Chickerell Road will remain partially open.
Whilst some schools are closing, others are remaining open. Wey Valley on Dorchester Road in Weymouth have said they will be open as usual tomorrow, with any changes known to parents after 5pm.
