The A353 is closed between White Horse Hill in Weymouth and Osmington due to an accident.
Emergency services are at the scene of the incident which is reported to have taken place between the turnings for Chapel Lane and Mills Road leading to Osmington Mills.
Traffic is currently diverting through Sutton Poyntz and the roads are congested.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
