Two people have been injured following a crash between a lorry and a car.

A collision took place near the Ringstead turn-off on the A353, between the Warmwell Cross Roundabout and Osmington, this morning. 

The road was closed between Osmington and Warmwell Cross, for a number of hours. 

Traffic was stopped at White Horse Hill and diverted through Sutton Poyntz.

Emergency services, including two ambulances, were at the scene.

Two people have been treated for injuries by the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 11.38 am of a collision involving a car and a lorry on the A353 between the Warmwell Cross Roundabout and Osmington.

"Officers have attended, along with the ambulance service, and road closures have been put in place as the emergency services respond.

"Two people were treated for injuries by the ambulance service, we do not have any condition update at this time."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 11.21am to a road traffic incident on Fishers Place, Ringstead.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed two patients by land ambulances to Dorset County Hospital.”

A witness described seeing a "bad accident" between the two vehicles which left "broken glass" on the road.

The road reopened at around 4pm.
