A MINT condition vintage 1930s motorbike will go under the hammer at a Dorset auction later this month.

A 1937 Brough Superior SS80 is estimated to sell for between £65,000 and £70,000 when it goes to auction at Charterhouse on Thursday, October 26.

Lawrence was fatally injured in an accident on his Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle in Dorset close to his cottage Clouds Hill near Bovington in 1935.

The pre-war British bike for sale was bought as a box as parts in the 1990s and it took the owner more than 20 years to restore the bike back to former glory.

Auctioneer George Beale said: “Brough Superiors are held in the highest regard by all motorcycle collectors and this SS80 will a great addition to any collection.”

The owner is selling the bike due to poor health.

This Brough Superior is one of more than 100 classic and vintage motorcycles going under the Charterhouse gavel at the Haynes International Motor Museum.

Charterhouse is now accepting entries for its forthcoming specialist auctions with silver, jewellery and watches, textiles, Asian Art, and classic motorcycles throughout October and November.

George Beale and the Charterhouse team can be contacted for advice and valuations at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, 01935 812277 or via info@charterhouse-auction.com.
