THERE were lots of happenings in the village during June.
It was a successful couple of weeks for those who took part in Dorset Art Weeks - fortunately there were three venues close together in North Street (Mark in the village hall, Lesley at No 10 and Karen and Zoe at 25A) which obviously helped with the direction signing for the visitors.
- THE fete was a splendid occasion, once again held in the lovely gardens of Miss Oxley's Charminster House, and raised a record-breaking amount of over £6,000.
It was an enjoyable event - and the vicar had ordered the good weather so that was alright!
A new addition to the large array of stalls and events was the enjoyable woodlouse races - an insect always readily available in the garden.
The photographic competition and flower festival in the church, both depicting the four seasons, was yet another part of the successful day.
Well done to the hardworking team of organisers.
- A COUPLE of future events to keep in mind for the village hall fundraising.
There will be another quiz evening and Oliver Letwin has agreed once again to help everyone spend their money and come away with some amazing bargains when he presides over another auction.
Those who attended the last occasion when Mr Letwin wielded the gavel in the village hall will agree that it was a great evening - and when final arrangements are made tickets will need to be obtained promptly!
- I HAVE at last retired from the village committee and at the AGM was presented with a beautiful bouquet and vouchers, which I have had great fun spending on pots and plants and other bits and pieces for the garden, for which grateful thanks to all concerned.
So I am no longer taking bookings for the hall.
