These fascinating old photos here show accidents from the past in Dorset.
And as this collection of pictures shows, however hard one might try, accidents do happen.
Dorchester Road, Weymouth
A lorry load of timber having successfully negotiated the St Edmund Street/Town Bridge junction is on its way along Dorchester Road when it came to grief opposite Weymouth College.
Rather alarming if you were walking nearby, but it looks as if no-one was hurt.
Radipole Lake, Weymouth
A Bedford Dormobile type van appears to have overshot the Swannery Car Park and is partially submerged in Radipole Lake.
Fortunately, Tilleys breakdown truck has come to the rescue and it will soon be back on dry land.
Dorchester Road, Weymouth, 'Royal Oak' turn
The 'Royal Oak' turn in Dorchester Road before road widening took place following the closure of the pub was a well known spot for accidents.
Here an articulated lorry has overturned.
Portland Road, Weymouth
A bus journey with a difference, when the 22 Portland service has ended up in someone’s front garden in Portland Road.
In the second photo the Southern National breakdown truck waits whilst the police discuss the circumstances.
