A main road on Portland is set to close for three nights for essential works.
The A354 High Street will be closed near to the junctions with Mallams and Cove Cottages from Monday, October 2 to Wednesday, October 4 as Wessex Water carries out essential investigations on the sewer network.
The work will take place between 7.30pm and 5am each night and, as well as the closure, there will be three-way traffic lights in place on Fortuneswell and High Street to allow for the diversion route, which will use Fortuneswell (A354) and Victory Road.
A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “This is vital investigation work to assess the sewer system in this area and we are carrying it out at night to try and minimise disruption as much as possible.
“We have written to customers and businesses through the Fortuneswell and Castletown areas of Portland and there will be extensive signs in the area to highlight the closure and diversion route. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’’
Bus stops and parking bays will be suspended throughout the diversion to allow enough room for two-way traffic flow and details of alternative bus stops will be highlighted on the suspended bus stops.
The road will reopen during the daytime.
