A TRACTOR and mower fire at a west Dorset farm saw smoke billowing across the west Dorset countryside.
Three fire engines were on the scene tackling the blaze at Portesham Dairy Farm in Bramdon Lane.
Nearby resident Keith Bendall said: “It filled the whole sky with black smoke, it looked quite dramatic."
The tractor was destroyed by the fire, which was extinguished around one hour after it began.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 10.01am this morning, two crews from Weymouth and one from Bridport were called to Bramdon Lane, Portesham, following reports of a large vehicle fire.
"On arrival, firefighters found a tractor well alight – two hose reel jets are being used to extinguish the fire, but the incident is ongoing."
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: "Bridport’s 4x4 mobilised along with Weymouth Fire Station's whole time crew and retained crew to a tractor and mower fire in Portesham.
"Crews used 4 hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus wearer to extinguish the fire."
