A care home choir is celebrating a successful concert having raised more than £500 for good causes.
The choir from Culliford House Residential Care Home in Dorchester held a concert at St George’s Church, raising money for Dementia UK and the Fordington church.
The choir is in its sixth year and has become a popular part of Culliford’s Living Well program.
Choirmaster Paul Cheater said: "It was a really lovely occasion. There was a great atmosphere, and everyone was in a fine voice!
"With a programme that ranged from traditional songs to songs from musicals to well-known hymns, there was something for everyone and it was wonderful to see people who often find everyday life quite challenging living in the moment and enjoying themselves.
"Everyone worked splendidly as a team, which ensured that the occasion was both happy and fulfilling."
Proprietor and registered manager Suzanne Jackson said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of this event and I'm so proud of our residents to showcase such amazing talent.”
The concert, held on Saturday, August 19, raised a total of £574, with all the proceeds raised being shared between both organisations.
A spokesperson for Culliford House added: "We would like to thank everyone who helped organise the concert, residents and relatives, Paul Cheater the Musical Director and our wonderful staff and volunteers.
"Finally, thank you to Reverend Cora for allowing us to use your beautiful church to hold our concert and for their support in making the event happen."
