The festival enjoys a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere. Thirteen young local acts performed on the stage whilst kids enjoyed bouncy castles, bungee trampolines and various crafts. Not to mention an inflatable rodeo, henna tattoos, screen printing, glitter tattoos or having a photo taken in a vintage horsebox.

Down for the day from Weymouth was Tracy Edwards. She attended with her family including her sister Rebecca Rose. Tracy said: "We love it. It is a great opportunity to meet up with friends and family."

Rebecca added: "It is a really family-friendly event. It is a great experience for the little people to run around."

Carmen McConnell brought her daughter Charlotte to the event. Charlotte had a go on the mechanical bull and managed to last 30 seconds before being shaken off. Carmen said: "This is a fantastic event, we are lucky to have it. It gets lots of people out and it's very sociable."

Tegan Smith, from Portland, brought her family down to the festival. She said: "We attended last year and the kids loved it. There is lots to do."

Patrick Langworthy brought along pins so he could juggle with his friends. He said: "I like the atmosphere, it's a summer fete type thing. Can't go wrong with people and music."

This is the 13th time this festival has occurred, and the 15th year since its inception.

Headlining this year was Dorchester’s homegrown Isaiah Dreads, who at 25 years of age, is already an acclaimed MC and rapper.

Event organiser, Emma Scott from Dorchester Town Council, said: "This event started 15 years ago after consultation with young people who said they wanted the opportunity to see live music and perform their own.

"What is unique about this event is that not only is entry free but all the activities are free as well, which is particularly good for families at the end of summer.

"This is one of my favourite events I have been involved with. I love how it brings people of all ages together."
