Emergency services across Dorset rushed to the aid of an unconscious man.

Serious concerns were raised for an unconscious man at a Lyme Regis beach last night (Friday, August 25).

Fortunately, the man was located and taken to safety before the high tide covered the beach.

Crews from the National Police Air Service (NPAS), Dorset Police, Avon and Somerset Police, the Coastguard, South West Ambulance Service and Lyme Regis RNLI rushed to the scene to locate the man in crisis.

He was located by the helicopter crew from 1.5km away using a thermal imaging infrared camera.

A spokesperson for NPAS South West and Wales Region described the rescue as an ‘excellent multi agency response.’

They added: “A great team effort to get someone in crisis back home. We wish them well and for better days ahead.”
