TV star Martin Clunes will once again be supporting a popular summer fete.

The meadow and gardens of Weldmar Hospicecare’s Inpatient Unit in Herringston Road, Dorchester will once again be transformed with entertainment, games, stalls and more on Saturday, September 9, for the charity’s Summer Fete.

Money raised from the event will go towards the specialist end of life care that Weldmar provides to adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.

Friend and supporter of Weldmar Hospicecare, Martin Clunes, will be once again very taking time out of his busy schedule to join attendees at the fete.

There will be lots to do on the day:

* Win prizes in the raffle on the Nurses’ Stall, staffed by nurses from the hospice and community teams

* Be entertained by singers Tony Lowe and Andy Collett, musicians Spindel, children’s entertainer Jamie Jigsaw, and dancers from The Studio

* Bid on the amazing lots in the silent auction, including a signed Idris Elba poster

* Enjoy some tasty food from the catering stand; and lots more.

The entry fee is £2 for adults with children going free.

First Bus will be running a free shuttle bus service to the event from the Fairfield car park in Dorchester.

Eden Fraser, from Weldmar’s Fundraising Team, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone for a brilliant day of family fun.

"We are extremely grateful for all the support we have had from colleagues, volunteers, supporters, and businesses in the community, in putting on this event.

"It will be a great opportunity for people to have an enjoyable day out, meet the staff from across the charity, and raise valuable funds for Weldmar Hospicecare.”

Rachel Hill, Local Director at HSBC UK, said ‘Weldmar have been a key local partner for us over the last few years with many of our team volunteering during work hours as part of an arrangement the bank provides as an employee benefit.

"We provided backing to this event in 2022 and it was fantastic to attend the event and show our support, so when the opportunity arose to support the Summer Fete again for 2023 we were more than happy to do it again.

"We will continue to fundraise in our Weymouth Branch throughout the year and my team look forward to meeting the attendees on the day’.

On the day of the fete there will be parking restrictions along Herringston Road, and no parking available on site at the hospice throughout the day.

The fete will run from 11am-4pm and is being supported by HSBC UK.
