A £1.3 million project to stabilise a river bank will begin next month.
From Monday, September 4, Dorset Council will start stabilisation work on the bank of the River Stour, Sturminster Newton.
It is expected to be completed by the end of November.
The bank of the River Stour bordering the A357, between the bridge and the turning to Sturminster Newton Mill, is slipping into the river.
There will be road closures while the work is ongoing.
The three-way temporary traffic signals will be in place for drivers travelling through the A357 Newton Hill/Bridge Street junction.
The signals will be removed before the weekend of September 9 and September 10 for Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival’s own traffic management.
They will return on Monday, September 11 until the end of November while the stabilisation work continues.
A Dorset Council spokesperson said: "Our team will keep disruption to a minimum, but please allow extra time for your journeys. Thank you for your patience."
