A man has been taken to hospital after a van crashed into a hedge on the side of the main road from Dorchester to Yeovil.
The A37 Dorchester Road was closed in both directions this morning, Tuesday, August 1, whilst recovery of the vehicle was underway.
The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.
A white van could be seen overturned in a hedge, partially visible with its wheels stuck out.
Traffic was queuing on the main road as a result of the crash.
James Andrews, who was in the queue of traffic, said: “I got there at 7.25am and ahead of me by about five cars was the recovery truck.
“They stopped letting traffic through for the recovery to do its job, but after 10 minutes of the recovery man walking around and having a look, police let us back through.
“Until I left, the traffic was going through one lane at a time.”
He explained that there was one police van on the scene and two PCSOs present.
The incident occurred near Closworth in Somerset.
Mr Andrews added: “Traffic was held for about 10 minutes with no movement either side, whilst the recovery man did his stuff, so there was a bit of build-up.
“Most drivers sat patiently but some just gave up and turned around.”
Mr Andrews said that the van was still waiting to be recovered when he left the scene.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to Dorchester Road, in Closworth near Yeovil, at around 6am today (Tuesday 1 August) after a van collided with a hedge.
"One man has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.
"The road was closed while the vehicle and debris were cleared."
