Weymouth Bay will be lit up by fireworks tonight as the popular summertime fireworks begin.

This is the first of a series of fireworks displays taking place over the summer holidays. It will be taking place from 9.30pm.

The fireworks will be visible across the Weymouth seafront.

Despite the rain today the fireworks are still scheduled to go ahead. Weymouth Town Council have stated if there are any changes it will post them on its social media.

The free events will take place over five dates in July and August.

  • Monday July 31
  • Monday August 7
  • Monday August 14
  • Monday August 21
  • Monday August  28 (Bank Holiday)

All the fireworks displays, organised by Weymouth Town Council, will take place at 9.30pm.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller said: “With the first display at the end of this month, we know these events will be a big draw to residents and people visiting Weymouth over the summer, boosting tourist numbers in the town.

“The firework events across Weymouth Bay always create a great atmosphere and it’s also great to have two extra dates on the 7th and 21st August, which are sponsored by Weymouth Bay and Littlesea who are part of Haven Holiday Park.”

Where possible, people are encouraged to leave their cars at home and walk or use public transport when getting to and from displays.
